A great hostelry providing clean and well furnished rooms and being at the rear of the building, remarkably quiet.
The food was excellent and a good choice of ‘dishes’ individually prepared and piping hot..
Car parking is away from the building but only a few minutes walk and is free.
The Oak is centrally situated and an excellent starting point for many walks including down to the famous ‘The island’ surrounded by the River Avon.
A visit to St Petroc, the Parish Church is a ‘must’, being steeped in history and recently the subject ot a major Tower restoration. The legend of this Patron Saint of Cornwall is fascinating.and well worth investigating.

Take a bucket or two of passion. Add locally sourced fresh ingredients. Stir in culinary flair and a few litres of talent. Seriously, the food is amazing. If you are passing do not miss the opportunity of eating here. I eat out a lot and have many regular visits to pubs and restaurants. I will be returning to the oak in south Brent as I can’t stop thinking about the food. I found it difficult to decide what to try due to the variety of dishes that all appealed. A truly enjoyable evening. If only I lived in Devon and did not have to travel from Wales I would eat and/or drink here regularly.

We stayed at another hotel on Good Friday and as they were full the following evening, they recommended The Oak Inn. We popped over and booked a room for one night and the room was really lovely and had everything we needed. The bathroom was quite new and had a very powerful shower which was much appreciated. Very comfortable experience with very friendly staff, we did not eat there but other people mentioned the food was good.

Room Tip: Room 5 was great!

Characterful pub in pleasant village not far from Plymouth and very easy to find. There was a nice friendly atmosphere in the bar which was enhanced by the absence of TV and piped music. Beer was very tasty and so was the food, which was good value. We had a one night stay, booked through TripAdvisor; our double en-suite room was very clean and comfortable and my wife was very pleased to find a teapot provided, which in our experience is a great rarity. The bathroom was probably the shiniest I’ve ever seen! . Breakfast was excellent. All-in-all a great place to eat, drink or stay.
